Course Overview

The British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor course enables you to operate as an assistant to deliver fun, safe introductory sessions to people starting out in paddlesport. This course is perfect for those helping out at activity centres and clubs. With years of experience delivering paddlesports sessions, in a wide variety of venues and crafts, we have loads of ideas and fun tasks to help you run great sessions for your clients or club members.

The Paddlesport Instructor course is set in the very sheltered water environment, where the location and weather conditions will have little or no impact on the group.

Training and Assessment

This is a two-day combined training and assessment, multi-craft course. You will be assessed paddling and rescuing from your craft of choice; canoe, kayak, sit-on-top, or SUP. You will be supported to deliver sessions to a mixed craft group containing canoes, kayaks and SUPs. Candidates are assessed in a supportive process throughout the course, where you will be helped to complete tasks on each day.

Course Prerequisites

  • Develop your paddling skills to comfortably be able to manoeuvre your boat around people and objects, so that you can position yourself effectively to support and rescue your group
