Course Overview

Take your paddling to the next level with our two, or three day Intermediate White Water Kayaking courses. This progressive course takes place on our favourite home runs in the Lakes, taking in amazing grade 3 and 4 rivers right on our doorstep. From the many play features on the Leven, to the pool drop rapids of the Lune and Eden and the hidden gems on spate rivers, there's loads to go at. The Lake District is the perfect location to move your paddling on.

We’ll refresh the fundamentals of white water paddling, and set aims with you for your development.  Whether that is improving consistency on grade 3, losing the wobble and avoiding capsizing through nailing clean lines, developing your surfing, setting up your progression to be successful on harder rapids, or simply enjoying a stress-free few days of guided paddling, we have you covered.

With 20 years of experience white water kayaking in the Lake District, we know how to get the best river conditions, the smoothest lines and the fun moves on the rapids to make the most of your time on the water. Specialising in white water kayaking, when we’re not working we’ll be found on the rivers and can't wait to show you our local playground. These three days of coaching will develop your paddling, show you precise cutting edge techniques and help you move your paddling up a notch. You will finish the session with a clear path for future development.

Who Is This Course For?

For this course we ask that you have experience paddling on grade 2-3 white water, with a keenness to develop. You should have a good attempt at a roll most of the time, due to the pool drop nature of the majority of rapids in the area, if it doesn’t work on occasion that's fine. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who has also signed up for the course.

Location

We’ll base the course on the rivers of the Lake District and adjoining Yorkshire Dales National Park. To make the best use of the conditions available, we’ll choose the rivers based on the water levels and forecast immediately prior to the course. We'll confirm the meeting point for the first day at least 3 days prior to the course. If your booking accommodation Kendal is the ideal spot to base yourself as it provides the best access to the surrounding rivers.
